I was completing an artist residency in Los Angeles in the spring of 2020 when California became the first state to go into lockdown. These were the only faces I saw on a regular basis for nearly two months.
The process involved screenshots of my television, taken often under poor lighting conditions, but also illuminated by mid-winter California light. All subjects were captured in motion, photographed primarily at twilight or early morning. They are identified here by their perspective in the pandemic, not by name.
