In advance of the book’s publication, we gathered a cast of fifteen people (and a crew nearly as large) over the course of two days to re-enact scenes from the book on a sound stage in Brooklyn.
An extraordinary effort directed by two young, talented artists—Lake Buckley and dayday—brought the book to life in remarkably dramatic and emotionally resonant ways.

“The purpose of this work was to bring to life the historical narratives and present-day implications with which the book FACE contends. The work relies on abstracted, minimalist metaphors that cue the viewer into the themes of the book.”
